James Coney Island gets its very own Eatsie Boy

James Coney Island, which is in the process of rebranding itself as JCI grill, recently announced the hire of chef Matt Marcus. Marcus, who helped turn Eatsie Boys into a food truck power house, will serve as consulting chef for the nearly 100 year old chain as it continues to update its appeal.

Marcus’ menu will focus heavily on Americana inspired sandwiches, including a fried chicken sandwich, and reinterpretations of James Coney Island’s nostalgia friendly hot dogs. The chain still plans to retain its legacy menu. The hiring of Marcus is the latest in a series of moves designed to reposition James Coney Island as a ” a premium, fast-casual” restaurant, James Coney Island president Darrin Straughan said in a statement.
